Read Assist is an Android app aimed at helping people with dyslexia. Users can input text or images containing text and the app will read the text out loud for the user.

In online mode, Read Assist uses Google Vision for text recognition and Elevenlabs for text to speech. In offline mode it uses Google ML Kit and Expo Speech respectively.

We use RevenueCat for subscription management. To delete the personal information, please use the “Delete purchase history” feature at the bottom of the “Token” screen or email your User ID to info@beyondblank.com so we can delete all related data.

Beyond Blank, located in Amersfoort, The Netherlands (‘we’, ‘us’, or ‘our’), developed ReadAssist (‘the app’), designed to assist individuals with low literacy by converting written text into spoken words using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Text-To-Speech (TTS) technologies. We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling any information we obtain from you with care and respect.

This Privacy Policy outlines our policies and procedures on the collection, use, and disclosure of your information when you use the app and informs you about your privacy rights and how the law protects you.

Information Collection and Use

ReadAssist does not directly collect, store, or ask for any Personally Identifiable Information (PII) from our users.

OCR and TTS Data Processing

To provide text-to-speech conversion and text recognition functionalities, the app may need to send images and text inputted by the user to third-party services, including Google ML Kit, Google Vision API, and the Elevenlabs API. These services process but do not retain your data after completing the requested operations.

Subscription Management and In-App Purchases

ReadAssist utilizes RevenueCat for managing subscriptions and in-app purchases. RevenueCat may collect certain information necessary to process purchases and manage subscriptions effectively. This may include transaction identifiers, purchase history, and limited user data as required for verification and analytics purposes. Usage Data Collection

The third-party APIs and services used by ReadAssist, including RevenueCat, may process data on servers located outside of the European Union. We ensure compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and that our partners uphold high standards of data protection.

Upon receiving a request, we will confirm receipt and proceed with the data deletion within three weeks. We are committed to ensuring the prompt and effective handling of such requests to protect your privacy.

Welcome to ReadAssist. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of ReadAssist (“the App”), and any services, features, and content provided by Beyond Blank (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the App.

Description of the Service

ReadAssist is a mobile application designed to assist individuals with low literacy by converting written text to spoken words using Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and Text-To-Speech (TTS) technologies. The App offers subscriptions and consumable tokens, which are used to access premium features and online services.

Subscriptions and purchases

Subscriptions: ReadAssist offers various subscription options that provide access to enhanced functionalities. Subscriptions are billed in advance on a recurring and periodic basis. Billing cycles are set on a regular basis, which you will be informed about upon purchasing the subscription.

Consumable Tokens: Tokens can be purchased within the App to access specific online features. These tokens are consumed as you use these features and are non-refundable.

User Conduct

You agree not to misuse the App or help anyone else do so. You agree not to:

  1. Copy, modify, or distribute the App or any content displayed within the App;
  2. Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in a way that interrupts, damages, or impairs the service;
  3. Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our servers or networks;
  4. Sell or resell our services without authorization.

Intellectual Property Rights

All intellectual property rights in and to the App, its services, and its content are owned by or licensed to Beyond Blank. These Terms do not grant you any rights to use Beyond Blank trademarks, logos, domain names, or other brand features.

Termination and Suspension

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice or liability, if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the App will cease immediately.

Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

The App is provided on an ‘AS IS’ and ‘AS AVAILABLE’ basis. We shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of The Netherlands, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes or claims relating to these Terms or the App will be resolved by arbitration, except as otherwise agreed by both parties.

Changes to the Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide at least 30 days’ notice prior to any new terms taking effect. What constitutes a material change will be determined at our sole discretion.
